Elderly Man Ripped Off By Caregiver - Police Fear More Victims - Gisele DAVIS Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) - On July 12, 2017 members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating a complaint related to deplorable living conditions of an elderly man in the Town of Elliot Lake, Ontario.
The East Algoma OPP Crime Unit, Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO), and uniform members under the direction of Detective Inspector Rob Matthews, of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) conducted the investigation. The investigation determined that numerous legal documents had been forged and a substantial amount of money stolen from the victim.
On June 13, 2018, 68-year-old Gisele DAVIS from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Fail to Provide Necessaries of Life, contrary to section 215(2)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
Criminal Breach of Trust, contrary to section 336 of the CC,
Theft Over $5000, contrary to section 334(a) of the CC,
Theft Under $5000 (14 counts), contrary to section 334(b) of the CC,
Fraud Under $5000 (14 counts), contrary to section 380(1)(b) of the CC,
Make Forged Document (14 counts), contrary to section 367 of the CC,
Use, Deals, Acts on Forged Document (14 counts), contrary to section 368(1)(a) of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on July 3, 2018.
