$75,000 In Stolen Property Recovered - GROULX & BYRNE ArrestedSource: OPP

(NORTH BAY, ON) - On July 3, 2018, at around 2:30 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region Support Team (NERST) arrested two individuals in a stolen passenger vehicle in Nipissing First Nation, Ontario. This vehicle had been reported stolen from the Hamilton area.
Further investigation revealed that one of the arrested individuals was also in possession of two other pickup trucks which were reported stolen from Haldimand County and the Niagara areas. Various licence plates and personal property were also recovered which were reported stolen from the North Bay and Hamilton areas over the past few months. The total value of the recovered vehicles and property is approximately $75 000.
Daniel GROULX, 25 years old from Niagara, Ontario, has been charged with:
Possession of stolen property over $5000, (2 counts), contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC),
Possession of stolen property under $5000, (3 counts), contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC),
Wholly or partially remove or obliterate a vehicle identification number on a motor vehicle, contrary to section 353.1 CC,
Fail to comply with condition of Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) CC,
Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA), and;
Use plate not authorized for vehicle, contrary to section 12(1)(d) HTA.
He is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario on July 10, 2018.
Kathleen BYRNE, 26 years old from Lincoln, Ontario, has been charged with:
Possession of stolen property under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC).
She has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario on August 7, 2018.
