Occurrence Type: Two Males Arrested After Cologne Theft
Occurrence #: BA18032644
Date: Monday, July 2, 2018 - 1:10pm

On Monday, July 2nd, 2018 at 1:10 pm two (2) males entered the Shoppers Drug Mart located at 567 Cundles Road East, in the City of Barrie. The pair were quick to work as one distracted the employee working in the fragrance area, while the second collected over $175.00 of men's cologne. He then looped around the back corner of the store where he slid the items in the satchel he was carrying. Both suspects then proceeded out the front of the store making no attempts to pay for the items and setting off the alarms at the exit. The Front End Manager was already aware the one male had concealed items and approached the two outside the store. Both fled on foot from the manager and descriptors were passed onto police.

Shortly after 1:30 pm police observed the two males walking northbound on St. Vincent Street. Both males fled on foot once they realized police were hot on their heels, however both were arrested a short distance away. The stolen cologne was located in the satchel carried by one of the males.

A 21-year-old Barrie male has been charged with Theft Under $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and two counts of Breach of Probation. The second male, a 25-year-old Barrie male has been charged with Theft Under $5000. Both suspects were held at the Barrie Police Service to attend a bail hearing on Tuesday to answer to their charges.
