Rash Of Vehicle Thefts

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) - The Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing to investigate vehicle thefts that started on July 13, 2018.

Police received a report of a stolen 2003 black pickup truck from the area of Port Stanley Ontario on the morning of July 13, 2018. This pickup truck had numerous work tools inside. The pickup truck was later located burned out in a field on Thompson Line in Union Ontario.

On July 13, 2018 police responded to a call of a stolen mini ATV on Sparta Line near Quaker Road. The yellow and blue 50cc Kazuma mini ATV was stored in an unlocked shed with the keys in the ignition. It is still outstanding.

On July 14, 2018 police responded to a hotel located at Talbot Road and Centennial Avenue for a stolen 2004 Chevrolet Silverado crew cab pickup truck with an Ontario licence plate of 2599ZD. The theft occurred around 12:00 p.m. This vehicle is still outstanding.

On July 14, 2018 around 9:00 p.m. police received a report of a stolen 2005 grey Ford F-150 pickup truck from West Lorne Ontario with Ontario licence plate AB69985. This vehicle is still outstanding.

On July 15, 2018 around 1:45 a.m. police recovered a stolen 2006 grey 4 door vehicle in the area of Shackleton Line and Currie Road. The vehicle was reported stolen once police contact the vehicle owner.

Police are reminding the public to be vigilant when it comes to vehicle thefts. Repeatedly, police recover stolen vehicle that are used in serious crimes.

Pocket your keys, leave the vehicle locked, and remove and valuables. This will ensure you are less likely to become a victim of vehicle theft and not allow your vehicle to be used in a further crime.
