Senior Assaulted & Sent To Hospital - Drew Frederick BEATON Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment investigated an incident at a Dean Street, Simcoe, Norfolk County address.

On Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at approximately 12:32 p.m., police were contacted by a resident reporting an assault.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that an elderly male was walking home when he was followed by an unknown male riding a bicycle. The unknown male then engaged in verbal insults and then assaulted the senior before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Police were called and immediately attended the area and located the male and took him into custody without incident. The victim was transported to a local area hospital to be treated for serious non-life threatening injuries.

As a result, police have charged a 34-year-old Drew Frederick BEATON of no-fixed address with assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Simcoe at a later date.
