(RENFREW, ON) - The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 236 calls for service between Monday September 3 and Sunday September 9.



Domestic Violence



Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 11 domestic disputes during the past week. One female was charged with assault, one male was charged with assault, possession of a schedule 1 drug - cocaine and 2 counts of breach of probation, and one male was charged with 2 counts of breach of an undertaking. No other criminal offences were alleged.

Male wanted for Dangerous Driving Arrested



A male from Bryson Quebec wanted in Ontario for several counts of dangerous driving was arrested in Renfrew on Tuesday August 28. A warrant for the arrest of Nicholas MCGUIRE aged 21 of Bryson was issued following a dangerous driving, flight from police and mischief incident in a blue Subaru in Renfrew, Douglas, Cobden and Pembroke on August 17. The suspect contacted police the next day to advise he would turn himself in but never showed up. Police received information from the public which led to the arrest of the male, and the seizure of the vehicle. He was held in custody for a bail hearing, where he was released. PC Dave Peace led the investigation, with assistance from the Renfrew County Street Crimes Unit (CSCU).



Break and Enter



Police are investigating the theft of 22 boxes of flooring from a home in Renfrew. The residence on Coleraine Drive was vacant at the time. Police received the call on September 6, and Provincial Constable (PC) Amanda Carruthers is leading the investigation.



Several Charges after Fight at Renfrew Fair



OPP officers responded to a report of a fight involving numerous people at the Renfrew Fair on Saturday September 8 at approximately 7:20 pm. As a result of the investigation one 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with 2 counts of mischief after damaging a vehicle and a police cruiser. Charges are also pending against a 16-year-old male for assault and mischief.



Impaired Driver



Three people were charged with criminal code alcohol related driving offences between September 6 and September 9. On September 6 at approximately 10:15 pm PC Troy Dobbie responded to a single vehicle collision on Division Street in McNab Braeside Township. The investigation revealed the male driver had been drinking and he was arrested for impaired driving. Following breath tests at the detachment Adam LECOMPTE aged 20 of Kinburn was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on October 10.



On Saturday September 8 shortly after 11 am PC Amedeo Jean-Louis stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 417 near White Lake Road. The male driver had been drinking and failed a roadside alcohol screening test. Following further tests at the detachment Brandon BALDOCK aged 24 of Kanata was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on October 10.



On Sunday September 9 shortly after 2 am several OPP officers were parked in a parking lot near the intersection of Argyle St S and Opeongo Road in Renfrew. They observed two people walking towards a vehicle exhibiting signs of impairment. As the officers approached the pedestrians, they entered a parked car and started it. The officers then had a conversation with the driver, and arrested him for impaired care or control of a motor vehicle. After breath tests at the detachment Brandon CAPALDI aged 30 of Lasalle was charged with impaired care or control of a motor vehicle, and over 80mgs care or control of a motor vehicle. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on October 10. PC Dave Peace led the investigation.
