Test Drive Ends With Arrest Warrants

(ADELAIDE METCALFE, ON) - On September 19, 2018 members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a vehicle theft from an automotive dealership on Centre Road, Adelaide Metcalfe.

The investigation revealed that a male and female attended the dealership and requested to test drive a vehicle. The vehicle was never returned. The 2008 Dodge Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) was reported as stolen.

As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old, Matthew SMIBERT and 38-year-old, Sherri-Lynn STRINGER, both of London, Ontario have been jointly charged with Theft Under $5000 of a Motor Vehicle, pursuant to the Criminal Code (CC). Arrest warrants have been issued for the pair in Middlesex County.

The vehicle has been recovered in the County of Lambton. The accused have been arrested and are currently in custody on unrelated charges.
