(BLUEWATER, ON) - A 35-year-old Bluewater resident is facing a half dozen charges following an impaired driving incident that took place last night in Bluewater.
At approximately 6:10 p.m., Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and Bayfield Fire Department responded to a single vehicle crash located on Wildwood Line east of Bayfield after receiving a call from a witness.
Upon arrival officers located a heavily damaged sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the ditch along with the driver and a toddler. Both occupants were transported to hospital where they were assessed for minor injuries.
While speaking with the female driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. Upon trying to arrest the accused she became combative toward the officers and resisted arrest. Additionally, she refused to provide breath samples to the Intoxilizer Technician.
Further investigation also revealed the driver had been involved in another collision in Bayfield prior to the collision on Wildwood Line. Police learned the driver had collided with a tree on Elizabeth Street and failed to remain at the scene of the crash.
Upon being released from the hospital the accused spent the night in police custody.
