Theft Of Firearms Near Seaforth

(HURON EAST, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, including members from the Huron OPP Crime Unit and the Mount Forest Forensic Identification Services Unit (FIS) continue to investigate a break, enter and theft of firearms that occurred northwest of Seaforth last week.


At approximately 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 those responsible entered onto a farm property located on Hydro Line Road. Once on the property the thieves entered into a farmhouse through an insecure garage door. Once inside the home the thieves ransacked the home and found keys to a pickup truck and a gun locker.

Ultimately the thieves stole seven long guns, some ammunition, a Panasonic camera, a small quantity of foreign currency along with the pickup truck.

Later that same night, police recovered the stolen pickup truck nearby on Division Line.

The remaining stolen property has not been recovered.

The stolen firearms are described as:



Lee Enfield 303 British
Remington Speedmaster .22 calibre rifle
Remington 870 .12 gauge double barrelled shotgun
Savage .17 rifle with a black stock
Savage .222 rifle with a scope
Boito .12 gauge shotgun, double barrel, over/under
Stevens .20 gauge shotgun, double barrel, side by side


The value of the stolen property is estimated to be worth about $8,500.
