Community Mail Boxes Damaged And Mail Stolen In Goderich

GODERICH, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking information from the public to help solve a recent string of mischiefs & thefts at several community mail boxes in the Town of Goderich.

Since October 24th Huron OPP members have investigated a dozen cases where community mail boxes and apartment building mailboxes have been attacked in the Town of Goderich; four cases alone have been reported to police this week. Police have also investigated an additional three cases of reported theft of parcels from residential mail boxes.

Community mail boxes on Brimicombe Crescent, Balvina Drive, Bethune Crescent, Beilby Street, Warren Street, Bennett Street, Huckins Street and Mitchell Street have been targeted along with communal mail boxes at apartment buildings located on Picton Street and Britannia Road.

If you see suspicious activity or suspicious persons near communal mail boxes please report it to police as soon as possible. If you see something, please say something.

Huron OPP offers the following tips:

Collect your mail daily
Where possible consider delivering parcels to your work address if you won't be around during the day.
If you will be away utilize a hold mail service to suspend delivery until you return
When you move file a change of address with Canada Post
Advise banks and other companies of your new address
If your mail fails to arrive, contact the senders to ensure they have the correct mailing address
Report any mail related concerns such as an overturned or vandalized mail box to Canada Post Customer Service at 1-800-267-1177.
