Personation with intent to avoid arrest
Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon X2
Dangerous Operation
Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident

32-year-old Sarah Jane POSTHUMUS of Arran-Elderslie has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2
Fail to Comply with Recognizance
Both were held in custody for a Bail Hearing.

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) - On Wednesday November 7, 2018 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on the southbound lanes of Hanlon Expressway, near College Avenue, Guelph. At approximately 1:00 a.m. the driver of a grey Chevrolet Impala entered the R.I.D.E. check.

Officers spoke with the male driver who refused to provide a Driver's Licence and gave a false verbal identification. Police requested that the male turn off the vehicle to whit he refused. The driver then put the car in gear and drove at officers who narrowly avoided serious injuries instinctively dodging the car. The male continued his flight into the City of Guelph and struck a fully marked OPP cruiser to evade apprehension. Fearing that pursuing the vehicle would perpetuate the dangerous behaviour and put public safety at risk, police disengaged.

Through further investigation, Wellington County OPP has identified the suspect and will be seeking a warrant for his arrest. Identification of the suspect and charge(s) are pending the issuance of a warrant.
