Theft Of $120,000 In Construction Equipment

(SOUTHGATE, ON) - On November 26, 2018 Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a theft of two (yellow) Caterpillar skid steers from a business at Southgate Sideroad 15, Southgate in Grey County. The two pieces of equipment were removed from Linwood Industrial Corporation between Saturday, November 24 at 9:00 pm and Monday, November 26 at 6:30 am.

Grey County OPP officers with members of Grey County OPP Crime Unit and Grey/Bruce OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) are investigating the $120,000 theft of construction equipment.

On November 28, 2018 members of Grey/Bruce OPP CSCU and Dufferin OPP CSCU executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a rural property in Melancthon Township, Dufferin County and located one of the stolen skid steers, estimated value of $90,000. Still outstanding is a (yellow) Caterpillar 242D skid steer.

Police continue to investigate. At this time no one has been charged with the theft.
