(NORTH PERTH, ON) - On December 1, 2018, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County Detachment and OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program when the operator of a motor vehicle fled after being directed to pull over.

The driver was located after attempting to evade police, where officers determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. He was arrested and transported to the North Perth OPP detachment for further testing.

Robert WOODS, 47-years-old, of the Town of Hanover was arrested and charged with;

If police determine that you have the presence of cannabis or alcohol in your system and/or that you are impaired by any substance including illegal drugs, prescription drugs or over-the-counter medications, you will face severe consequences and potential criminal charges.

"OPP officers remain vigilant in reducing impaired driving. This is the second time in the last 7 days that a driver has failed to stop for a RIDE program. The best way to avoid impaired driving is to not take a chance; plan ahead and find another way home."
