(THAMES CENTRE, ON) - On December 5, 2018, at approximately 01:00 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a fatal motor vehicle collision investigation at the intersection of Dundas Street and Hunt Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre.

While investigating the fatal collision, a motorist drove around the clearly marked road closure barriers and entered the collision scene. When police interacted with the male driver, police determined that the 28-year-old male driver had consumed alcohol and subsequently, was arrested.

"This is yet another shocking example of why police officers remain committed to reducing and eradicating impaired drivers from our roadways. Collision scenes are complex investigations that demand an officers' full attention. A catastrophic event was avoided due to the quick action taken by the officers on scene." - says PC Max Gomez, Middlesex County OPP.

The accused is scheduled to appear in a London court room on January 10, 2019.
