(HURON EAST, ON) - Everyone likes to get into a warm vehicle during these freezing cold snaps however if you are in the habit of leaving your vehicle unattended and running with the keys in it you may be in for a nasty surprise when you return.

On Friday, January 18, 2019 at approximately 7:44 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a Kippen Road residence after the owner reported his pickup truck was just stolen from his laneway.

The owner reported he had his pickup truck warming up in the driveway for a few minutes and when he returned to his vehicle he noticed it had been stolen.

The stolen vehicle is described as a 2015 dark grey Chevrolet Silverado, crew cab, with chrome running boards and a black front grill. The vehicle is valued at approximately $35,000.

Vehicle thefts may be prevented by ensuring the vehicle is locked and the ignition key is removed from the vehicle. Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running, and never leave valuable objects or packages in plain view.
