Snow squall warning in effect for:

Goderich - Bluewater - Southern Huron County
Wingham - Blyth - Northern Huron County
Dangerous snow squall conditions likely through Thursday.

Snow associated with an Alberta Clipper is slowly tapering off early this morning near Lake Huron. With the passage of the clipper, strong westerly winds gusting to 70 km/h and very cold air will quickly move into the region.

Snow squalls are expected to develop today and should generally persist through Thursday. The snow squalls should shift considerably from time to time over the course of the next few days.

While significant accumulations are possible, the more serious threat from the squalls will be from blowing snow creating whiteout conditions. In addition, dangerous wind chills as cold as minus 35 are likely starting Tuesday night.

Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.

Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
