Threats On Social Media Lead To Charges

(PETAWAWA) On the evening of April 3, 2019 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report involving a series of threats towards a 14 year-old male in Petawawa. The investigation revealed that threats to harm the victim were made on social media.
As a result of this incident a 14 year-old male youth from Petawawa was arrested on April 4, 2019 and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Uttering threats - three counts
Criminal Harassment
The youth was released on a promise to appear at Youth Court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 23, 2019. The youth's name cannot be released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
