(HURON EAST, ON) - A 30-year-old from Seaforth is facing a number of criminal charges following a police investigation that took place southeast of Seaforth yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. on April 16, 2019 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed the driver of a dirt bike fail to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Hensall Road and Tile Road. The officer was able to pull up alongside the driver and when the officer attempted to stop the male driver the suspect took off on his bike and drove off into a muddy farmer's field.

The driver only made it about 150 feet before he got stuck in the mud. At that point he abandoned the dirt bike and the property he was carrying and took off running.

Huron OPP officers set up containment around the farm property and with the assistance of the property owner and an OPP Canine Unit police located the suspect approximately two hours later laying in the mud. Upon searching the abandoned property police seized a backpack that contained break-in tools and brass knuckles. He was taken into custody without incident and was charged.

Wesley GREEN, 30 years of age from Seaforth has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of Break-In Instruments
Possession of a Imitation Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Flight from Police Officer
Disobey Stop Sign- Fail to Stop

He attended the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich this afternoon for a bail hearing.

While police were attempting to locate this male they also had another dirt bike flee from them. Police are still trying to locate the driver and passenger of this second dirt bike.
