(SHAKESPEARE, ON) - On July 30, 2019 at approximately 6:00 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Perth County detachment, Perth County Paramedic Services and Perth East Fire Department responded to the scene of a collision involving two motor vehicles.

The collision occurred on Perth Road 107, north of Shakespeare in the Township of Perth East.

A 32-year-old male from Stratford was driving a Ford pickup east on Line 37 and had turned south on to Road 107. The Ford pickup then collided with a Chevrolet pickup traveling north on Road 107 and being driven by a 19-year-old male from Eden.

Both males were treated at the scene and released.

Kody WICKE, 32-years-old, from Stratford was charged with Disobeying a Stop Sign and was issued a Provincial Offence Notice (PON).

"Every year the OPP investigates thousands of intersection-related motor vehicle collisions that result in serious injury and death. The majority of these collisions are the result of distracted, careless and inattentive driver behavior, and are among the most preventable of collisions", Inspector Rob Scott Perth County detachment commander.

Road safety is everyone's responsibility!

KNOW THE LAW

A stop sign means you must come to a complete stop
Stop at the stop line if it is marked on the pavement
If there is no stop line, stop at the edge of the intersection
Wait until all traffic is clear before entering the intersection.
