A driver entered the RIDE program and an officer observed that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. While speaking to the officer, the driver squealed his car tires and attempted to exit the RIDE. The male driver was stopped by police a short distance away.

"Every occupant of a motor vehicle that is not restrained by a seat belt is travelling at the same speed as the vehicle they are seated within. If the vehicle were to become involved in a collision, their bodies will continue at the same rate of speed as the vehicle until they come into contact with an object within the vehicle, or outside the vehicle, usually resulting in serious or fatal injuries." Provincial Constable Sue Blacklock, West Region OPP, Technical Collision Investigation Unit.
