(HURON EAST, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking information from the public in relation to an event that took place in Egmondville over the weekend.

Huron OPP officers received information that on Sunday, September 8th, 2019 at approximately 6:00 p.m., a 7 year-old and a 9 year-old were playing at the Egmondville Park, located at the corner of Bayfield & Water Street, when a dark-coloured minivan pulled up alongside the children.

An adult female passenger asked if the children would like to go for a ride in the van. The children declined and immediately started biking home. The van followed them a short distance, but left before the children returned home. Once at home, the children immediately reported the suspicious incident to their parents.

The vehicle is described as a dark-coloured minivan similar to a Dodge Caravan.

There were two adults in the minivan at the time. A male driver and a female passenger.

This incident serves as a reminder to parents and guardians that personal safety should be discussed with young children, particularly when they are playing in unsupervised areas such as parks and playgrounds. The children involved in this incident wisely kept their distance, declined the offer for a ride and immediately reported the incident to their parents.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone that may have information that could help investigators identify the two adults involved in this incident.

Should you have any information that could assist investigators please contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 524-8314. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
