CENTRAL HURON, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking tips from the public to help identify a male driver involved in a possible attempted abduction case.

On September 18, 2019 Huron OPP officers received a report of a suspicious person occurrence that took place in Clinton around 6:00 p.m. Investigators learned a 13 year-old girl was walking on Whitehead Street in front of the REACH Huron building when an unfamiliar vehicle pulled up alongside her.

The driver and lone occupant engaged the girl in conversation by complementing her on her appearance. He then asked her some personal questions including whether she was alone or not and whether she would like a ride.

The girl wisely declined the offer of a ride and then immediately went to a place of safety where she reported the incident.

Investigators are looking to speak with the individual involved and are requesting assistance from the public to help identify the vehicle and driver.

The person of interest is described as being a white male, between 30 to 40 years of age, with a bald or shaved head, blue eyes and clean shaven. He was operating a dark grey four-door sedan similar to an Acura that was also described as being clean and a newer model year.

Police encourage parents to regularly engage in personal safety conversations with their children. Tips and resources can be found at the Canadian Centre for Child Protection at www.protectchildren.ca.
