(SOUTH HURON, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a recent theft of prescription medication that was recently stolen from an Exeter resident.

Just before 10:00 a.m. on October 22, 2019 a man posing as a repairman showed up at the victim's home located at a trailer park in Exeter. The suspect gained access into the home under the guise that he was going to check the victim's kitchen sink for potential plumbing leaks. The victim was instructed to go and inspect the washroom sink while he checked over the kitchen sink.

The thief told the victim the sink was dry and left the residence. The victim proceeded to check over the kitchen cupboards and it was immediately noticed that a newly filled prescription bottle of narcotics had been stolen.

The victim then confronted the suspect about the missing pills however he scoffed at the allegation and quickly departed.

The male suspect is described as being around 40 to 50 years of age, about 5'3" tall, with shaved grey hair and poor teeth. He was wearing blue jeans and a black windbreaker jacket with two grey stripes. He was seen driving a newer model black Ford F-150.

This incident serves as a reminder for residents to exercise caution when allowing strangers into your home particularly when you are living on your own. If someone wants to do work for you ask to see credentials and get references in advance. If you ask them to leave your property and they fail to leave when directed they are now trespassing and police should be contacted.

Any person with information regarding this incident should immediately contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 524-8314.
