Drunk Driver Found At Home In Crediton - HUNT

(SOUTH HURON, ON) - A South Huron resident has been charged with Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a collision investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

At approximately 11:28 p.m. on January 2, 2020 Huron OPP officers received information about a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Airport Line near Kirkton Road. Prior to arriving on scene officers received further information that a passerby had picked up an occupant of the vehicle and had just dropped him off at a residence in Crediton.

Upon arriving at the crash scene officers located a heavily damaged car that had appeared to have rolled several times. Upon checking over the crash scene and determining nobody remained on scene officers attended the residence in Crediton to check on the occupant that had been dropped off.

Initially officers were met with some deception however it didn't take long before officers were able to locate and speak with the driver of the wrecked vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver officers noted the male was displaying signs that he was impaired by alcohol. Additionally, police noted the male had sustained an injury from the crash. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to hospital to have his injury treated.

While at the hospital the accused provided two samples of his breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician and both of his samples registered above the legal limit. Upon release from the hospital the accused was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for processing.

Christopher HUNT, 34 years of age, from Crediton has been charged with Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 20, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Exeter.
