(NORTH HURON, ON) - A Kincardine resident is facing a criminal charge of "Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus" following a traffic stop that took place in Wingham at the end of December.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on December 22, 2019 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting checks at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint in Wingham when they observed the driver of a compact car make an abrupt turn in an attempt to avoid the checkpoint located at Josephine Street and B Line Road. An alert officer noticed the suspicious action and immediately set out after the vehicle.

A traffic stop was conducted and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver. As a result, a roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail.

He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Both of his samples provided to the Intoxilizer Technician were found to be over the legal limit.

Bradley LIDDLE, 23 years of age, from Kincardine has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. He was later released from custody with a court date scheduled for January 27, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. His vehicle was impounded and his licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
