(BROCKTON, ON) - A call to police about an erratic driver has led to the arrest and subsequent charges against a Guelph resident.

On Sunday, February 23, 2020 at approximately 8:17 p.m. South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about a motor vehicle that was travelling in an erratic manner coming into Walkerton on Brue Road 19. Officers located the motor vehicle and a traffic stop was completed near Eastridge Road.

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer observed an open container of alcohol in the middle console. A roadside screening test was later conducted and the driver registered a fail. As a result the driver was arrested and transported to the Walkerton OPP detachment for breath tests.

The driver later provided two samples of his breath to the intoxilizer technician and both of his test results were analyzed to be above the legal limit.

Tyler SWEIGER, 30 years of age from Guelph has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus and Driver Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor. He was also served with a 90-day driver's licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded. The accused has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for March 18, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Walkerton
