$10,000 In Damage After Oil Plug Removed From Vehicle

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - On Saturday, May 9, 2020, at approximately 3:33 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment investigated a mischief at a Thompson Road East, Townsend, Norfolk County address.

It was determined that on Thursday, May 7, 2020, unknowns attended the address in the early morning hours and removed the oil plug from a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the residence. The vehicle was subsequently taken to a mechanic where it was determined that the motor experienced catastrophic damage and had in fact seized as a direct result of this act of mischief. The damage is estimated at approximately $10,000.

It was also determined that between Sunday, April 19, 2020, and Saturday, May 9, 2020, unknowns had previously attended the address and had punctured the tires on their vehicle while it was parked on the property. These incidents were not reported to police.

The OPP want to remind all residents that if they see anything suspicious to please contact the police immediately. If anyone is found committing acts of mischief, appropriate charges will be laid.
