(BLUEWATER, ON) - A 41-year-old from London is fortunate to have escaped injury following a crash that took place in Bayfield this past weekend.

At approximately 8:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to single motor vehicle crash involving a vehicle that went over the cliff at the end of Cameron Street near Tuyll Street.

Officers arrived on scene where they learned a sport utility drove through a barrier at the cliff's edge, proceeded to go over the cliff and ultimately came to rest on the beach below.

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of her breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician and both of her samples were found to be above the legal limit.

Erin TURCOTT, 41 years of age, from London has been charged with Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80) Plus. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 5, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.

Her licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days and her vehicle has been towed and impounded.
