Gregory STEPHENS Charged Following Collision

(CHATSWORTH, ON) - On July 6, 2020 at 8:25 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 10, just north of the Village of Berkeley, ON.

The driver of an orange car was southbound on Highway 10, when they lost control, struck the guard rails, and then crossed over to the northbound lane and struck that guard rail as well, before coming to rest. The driver was not injured.

Officers spoke with the driver and detected an odour of alcohol and cannabis on the driver's breath. The driver was read the approved screening device demand but refused several times to provide a breath sample. The driver was arrested and transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Chatsworth.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Gregory STEPHENS, 33 years-of-age, from Holland Centre, ON with refusal to comply with demand, section 320.15(1) Criminal Code of Canada and careless driving, section 130(1) Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 10, 2020.
