(WEST PERTH, ON) - Three people have been arrested and charged after a break-and-enter and theft of firearms from a residence in Mitchell.

On August 18, 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break-and-enter that had occurred at a residence on Ontario Road, in the Municipality of West Perth. Items stolen during the break-and-enter included firearms, ammunition, a crossbow, a laptop, a cheque, and cannabis marihuana bud.

As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was executed by the Perth County OPP, Huron Perth Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), and the Grey-Bruce Community CSCU, at an address on St. David Street in Mitchell on August 29 2020. A portion of the property was recovered, including all eight firearms, and the laptop, but a camouflage Excalibur crossbow with three arrows, and an assortment of ammunition are still outstanding.

Jasin DIEHL, 30, of West Perth, has been charged with:
Break, Enter and Theft
Theft Under $5000
Unauthorized Possession of firearms
Tamper with Serial Number on Firearms
Fail to Comply with Recognizance

Barry MALCHO, 52, of West Perth, has been charged with:
Break, Enter and Theft
Unauthorized Possession of firearms
Theft Under $5000
Possession of Firearms While Prohibited

Shawnee BAXTER, 23, of West Perth, has been charged with:
Break, Enter and Theft
Unauthorized Possession of firearms
Theft Under $5000

The accused parties were held for a bail hearing.
