(MUNICIPALITY OF BRIGHTON, ON) One individual has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place and causing mischief while later in custody.

On April 25, 2024, at approximately 6:45 p.m., the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a disturbance on Dundas Street in the Municipality of Brighton. Further reports were received pertaining to the same person at a commercial premises off Prince Edward Street.

Police shortly located the accused causing a further disturbance to passing motorists before being arrested and transported to a nearby detachment where mischief was caused to government property inside.

Abdul RAKEEB, 31-years-old, from Brighton has been charged with:

Being intoxicated in a public place
Mischief obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property.
The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
