(WEST NIPISSING, ON) One person was arrested and charged for impaired driving after police conducted a traffic stop.
On April 26, 2024, shortly before 9:00 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conduct a traffic stop with a vehicle on Highway 17, West Nipissing.
While speaking with the driver, police observed open liquor in the vehicle and it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Billy JOHANSON, 52 years-of-age, from Dokis First Nation, was charged with, operation while impaired alcohol and drugs, and driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.
The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6, 2024, in North Bay.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
