(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) One person has been arrested and charged following a traffic complaint.
On June 4, 2024, shortly before 1:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Highway 6. The vehicle was traveling southbound towards Little Current and unable to maintain its lane.
Police located the vehicle on Meredith Street and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver was impaired. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Derek LAVIGUEUR, 44-years-old from Sudbury has been charged with operation while impaired alcohol and drugs.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on July 2, 2024.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
