(SOUTH HURON, ON) Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Windsor resident with several criminal offences following a traffic stop in the Municipality of South Huron on August 11, 2024.
Just before 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 11, Huron County OPP were patrolling on Bluewater Highway in South Huron when they observed a motor vehicle being driven erratically on Bluewater Highway. Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver. The officer discovered the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving and subsequently arrested them for impaired operation. The accused was transported to the Lambton OPP detachment in Grand Bend at which time the accused assaulted a police officer during processing. The accused further refused to provide the required breath samples and was additionally charged for refusal.
Oleg KACHMAR, 37 years-of-age from Windsor has been charged with:
Operation while Impaired Alcohol and Drugs,
Assault Peace Officer,
Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.
The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).
The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused drivers licence was suspended for 90 days.
The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 16 at the Ontario Court of Justice Goderich.
