2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(SHELBURNE, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 49-year-old Shelburne resident along with a 49-year-old Vaughan resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of a Shelburne RIDE program.

On November 23, 2024, at approximately 2:29 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check in the area of Owen Sound Street in the Town of Shelburne. A vehicle entered the area and was met by the officers. After a brief conversation, the officers were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

Patrick LATOUR, a 49-year-old male, from Shelburne has been charged with:



• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On November 23, 2024, at approximately 2:54 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check in the area of Owen Sound Street in the Town of Shelburne. A vehicle entered the area and was met by the officers. After a brief conversation, the officers were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

Satharsan MUTHULINGAM, a 49-year-old male, from Vaughan has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.

The Dufferin OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, rideshare, public transit or stay overnight.
